(d) A metal wire has a resistance of 60W. It is cut into three parts of equal length. Find the equivalent resistance when two parts are connected in parallel and the third part is in series with them.
(e) What is the work done by force when the force is: (i) normal to the displacement produced?
(ii) in the same direction as the displacement produced?

(c) State two precautions that should be taken while handling radioactive substances.
(d) Scissors for cutting cloth have blades much longer than handles. Why?
(e) Two lamps, one rated 40W, 220V and the other 60W, 220V are connected in parallel combination across to a 220V supply.
Calculate the ratio between their resistance.

(c) You have three resistors of values 2W, 3W and 5W. How will you join them so that total resistance is more than 7W?
(d) A uniform meter scale of weight 50gf is balanced at 30cm mark when weight of 80gf and 60gf act at 5cm and 45cm mark respectively. What weight (force) must be applied at 20cm mark to balance the meter scale.

(ii) Rohan exerts a pull of 150 Kgf, what is the maximum load he can raise with this pulley system if its efficiency is 75%?

(b) A person standing between two vertical cliffs and 480m from the nearest cliff shouts. He hears the first echo after 3 second and the second echo, 2 second later. Calculate
(i) the speed of sound.
(ii) the distance of the other cliff from the person.
(c) A refrigerator converts 100gm of water at 20oC to ice at -10oC in 35 minutes. Calculate the average rate of heat extraction in terms of watts.

Specific latent heat of fusion of ice = 336J/g
